Gloucestershire Airport (aka Staverton) has been seeking for some time to make some CAA-mandated improvements at the Western end of 09/27, to bring its overrun and obstruction-free area up to the standard where it can again accept Public Transport flights up to ~50-seater (rather than the present ~20-seater) turbprops, and analogous types.
To do this it needs the assent, separately, of each of:
a. Tewkesbury Borough council, the planning authority
b. Cheltenham Borough Council, one of the owners
c. Gloucester City Council, the other owner.
In all 3 of these there are active and articulate 'anti's, supported by vociferous types in the community who seem to get generous coverage in the local media.
The Airport Director has (only just) circulated to based operators a letter requesting letters (or e-mails) of support for the project to be sent to Gloucester City Council; but the deadline is 28 Nov.
