As well as the obvious
benefits to deserving causes, donating flights for charity has the happy side effect of
introducing people to an altogether more positive aspect of GA. Soon pilots interested in conducting charity flights
will be able to turn to "flyforcharity" to help in finding charities and
potential donors. The idea is to maintain a list of all interested parties; pilots,
charities and donors, so that all three can be put in touch, both for regular fund-raising
and for specific events.
If you would like to register your interest, as
a pilot, charity, or donor, you can do so by contacting the organiser; Neil Thomson at neil@flyforcharity.com or by telephone on 020
8444 7222.
Neil points out that "Flyforcharity"
will take some time to organise, and he would also be interested to hear from anyone with
ideas, suggestions, or offers of help. In the meantime there is nothing to stop you flying
anyone you know who is willing to donate to a registered charity of your or their choice,
so long as you fully comply with the conditions of AIC 50/2000 (White 20) 29 June,
which is on the AIS website (in pdf format so you
need "Acrobat" reader). |
