Sandown welcomes visitors with refurbished cafe |
|
Sandown
on the Isle of Wight is currently experiencing difficulties with a nearby development. We
hope to bring more news about this in the near future. In the meantime after a couple of
waterlogged winters and the refurbishment of the cafe they're keen to welcome visitors...
"The local PFA strut and the newly
formed Sandown Flying Club are trying desperately to get flyers from all over the UK to
come back and visit the Island again. We've had two very wet winters, closing
Sandown to most aircraft for long periods; in addition the café was only open for six
weeks last year and was literally falling down. It was too much for all of us we
could see the airfield dying around us so we took the bull by the horns and spent a lot of
money restoring the café. It is run by our
local CFI and is affectionately called the Reach For The Pie café. It is based near to the tower on the southern side
of the field and is well worth a visit as the prices are excellent (in line with the
scenery of course). Now all we want are some visitors!"
