Following
reports in the local press of complaints from local residents relating to noise,
Wellesbourne airfield is now under scrutiny from Stratford District Council's planning and
regulation committee. At a meeting held
by the committee yesterday it was decided to seek to enforce the operator to provide the
Council with information relating to the level of activity at the airfield. Legal
precedent allows that intensification of use can, but not necessarily always does,
represent a material change of use. The information on numbers of flights is being sought
in order to investigate local resident's claims that such a change has occurred at
Wellesbourne.
Although the Council denies any hidden agenda
to stop flying activity at the airfield, the fear is that this is indeed the first step in
a campaign to close, or at least impose restrictions on, the airfield. |
